We are intentional community and actively engaged in sustainable agriculture, as well as operating an educational retreat, is an important contributor to the eco-tourism economy and is closely connected to the surrounding National Forest and Other Environmental and Sustainable Programs as well as entire state of North West States.
Eco Resort and Living Village Project
This is educational and environmental awareness project based on the teachings and philosophy of Ecotopia – the notion, first introduced into mass culture by Ernst Callenbach in the seventies, shaped contemporary mass vision of the not-too-distant future, where man, high-technology and nature travel hand in hand.
However, at the beginning of the 21st century, instead of green arcologies, the state of the environment is so critical that mankind faces a global climatic catastrophe. Nowadays, when the very survival of mankind may be at stake, the redefinition of the notion of ecotopia should be the major challenge to architects.
Village Design and architecture not only from contemporary eco-architects, but also delved into the work of the eco-low-tech founding philosophers: Ellul, Illich, Bookchin and most of all: Henry David Thoreau. Ultimately it seems that the only architecture that can facilitate a truly nature-friendly and nature-restorative lifestyle is ‘convivial’ low-tech architecture, made by its very users with local materials with local skills and techniques, as energy-efficiently and self-sufficiently as possible.
